Beit Shemesh Fireballs

Beit Shemesh Fireballs

The Beit Shemesh Fireballs was founded in 2000 in the newly formed ISA Women’s Fastpitch League. The Fireballs began with women from all parts of the country, who wanted to play softball. Most of the first players had some experience in playing softball and there were also a few that had little experience.

The current Fireballs team is made up of women from all parts of the country including Beit Shemesh, Jerusalem, Modiin, Chasmonaim, Tel Aviv, and Kibbutz Gezer. The backgrounds of the team come from religious, non-religious, Jewish and Christian.

In the years 2004, 2005, 2012, and 2017, the Fireballs were the ISA Women’s league champions. In 2019, they placed in first place in the regular season but lost in the Grand Final Championship game.

Additionally, the Fireballs represented the State of Israel in the WBSC Softball Europe Women’s European Cup tournament in Dupnitsa, Bulgaria this past year. This was the first Israel women’s club team to be represented in an international tournament.

Past teammates that have played on the Fireballs were Meirav Eisenberg, Minna Wolf, Inbal Haskell, Michal Fuld, Monica Drori, Cynthia Geliebter – Kamioner, Kelley Newell, and Anne-Claire Coudurier (K-Ma).

After 18 years playing with the Fireballs, Batya Jerenberg decided that she was hanging up her softball cleats and glove. To that extent, the Fireballs honored Batya with retiring her jersey number, number 10.
