Vets Fights Back in Loss to Mean Judeans
Despite a 5-run deficit in the second inning, Vets almost came all the way back, eventually falling 7-6 to Mean Judeans on Tuesday. Vets scored five runs in the failed comeback on a stolen base by Maayan Hacohen in the fourth, a walk by Hacohen in the sixth, a walk by Avi Shamir in the sixth, and a walk by Avinoam Sachs in the sixth.
Vets couldn’t keep up with Mean Judeans early in the game. Mean Judeans scored on an error during Tabie Mercer’s at bat and a groundout by Ammikhi (Azai) Moore in the first inning.
In the first inning, Mean Judeans got their offense started when an error scored one run for Mean Judeans.
Vets scored three runs in the sixth inning. Vets offense in the inning was led by Hacohen, Shamir, and Sachs, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Yaron Ben Israel was the winning pitcher for Mean Judeans. The fireballer surrendered one run on zero hits over three innings, striking out six and walking one. Mercer and Yegal Brownlee entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Noam Zwilling took the loss for Vets. The pitcher allowed three hits and five runs over two innings, striking out three.
Gefen Osishkin went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Vets in hits.
Yahneev Christmas led Mean Judeans with two hits in three at bats.
