Assaf Raphaeli Drives in Four to Gezer09 Victory Over Vets
Assaf Raphaeli was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Sunday, driving in four on two hits to lead Gezer09 past Vets 17-7 on Sunday. Raphaeli drove in runs on a walk in the third and a triple in the fifth.
Gezer09 earned the victory despite allowing Vets to score five runs in the first inning. Vets’s big inning was driven by walks by Maayan Hacohen and Itai Folger, a single by Anthony Morales, and by Yonatan Tzemach.
In the first inning, Vets got their offense started when Morales singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Gezer09 pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Michael Marunov drew a walk, scoring one run, Raphaeli drew a walk, scoring one run, Tom Haskell drew a walk, scoring one run, and Gilad Lazar singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Gezer09 scored eight runs in the fifth inning. Each drove in runs during the inning.
Raphaeli pitched Gezer09 to victory. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing three hits and seven runs while striking out eight. Marunov threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Gefen Osishkin took the loss for Vets. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing two hits and eight runs while striking out four.
Gezer09 racked up six hits. Lazar and Raphaeli all collected multiple hits for Gezer09. Raphaeli and Lazar each managed two hits to lead Gezer09.
